What Is Microdermabrasion?

We’re incredibly lucky these days to have so many different options for skincare available to us, with a solution out there for every single skin complaint you can think of.

What’s even better is that skincare is a wonderful form of self-care as well, so by prioritising your skin and looking after it day in day out you’re sure to find that you feel better emotionally and mentally, as well as physically. It’s a very real win-win!

If you’re worried about the appearance of your skin at the moment, whether that’s because of acne, fine lines and wrinkles, sun exposure, stretch marks, a dull complexion or an uneven skin tone, you may want to consider trying microdermabrasion to see if that can help.

This is a very popular treatment, no doubt in large part because it’s non-invasive and works well with most skin types… and because it can yield beautiful results, particularly when done on a regular basis.

In terms of what to expect when you come for your treatment, your clinician will use a sterile handheld device to direct a jet of microcrystals across the surface of your skin.

This delivers wonderfully deep exfoliation, with surface imperfections removed and collagen production stimulated, so you leave the salon with beautifully refreshed and invigorated skin that boasts a truly healthy glow.

It is possible that you will see some redness and have a bit of sensitivity after your appointment, so make sure you avoid sun exposure for a day or two afterwards and focus on hydration and moisturising while you heal.

You should be able to go about your day as normal after your appointment, however, with the lack of downtime after the treatment one of its main draws for many skincare fans.

Results are also generally immediately noticeable, which makes it even more appealing, although you may find you need to have more than one session depending on what your specific skin concerns are.
