Microneedling Treatment

Microneedling treatment has become increasingly popular in recent years. At Sarah M Laser and Skin Clinic, we have treated a variety of patients using this treatment. Achieving fabulous results for their skin. The microneedling treatment uses a vertical microneedling device that offers results similar to those achieved through laser treatment. Unlike laser treatments, however, this doesn’t burn or scrape the skin.

What to Expect during Microneedling

During the treatment, micro injuries are created on the treatment area. This encourages the natural collagen production of the skin. The treatment is often called Collagen Induction Therapy. The needles, which are mounted on a small roller, pierce the skin at an angle of 90 degrees. This angle is important because it offers greater control to the therapist to control the depth of the injury. The depth of the penetration achieved can be adjusted by the therapist from 0.25mm to 2.50mm. The treatment will stimulate your skin, giving it the gentle nudge that it needs to start its natural repairing process, however this will not hurt.

The injuries produce a response in the skin that starts the natural healing process, and both collagen and elastin are produced. This results in skin that looks firmer and younger. You should expect to see some difference in your skin immediately following the treatment. However, full effects are not visible until several weeks have passed.

What is Microneedling used for?

Microneedling can be used to help minimise the wrinkles and fine lines that appear in the skin. These include from lines, crows feet, eye and forehead wrinkles, lip and smoker lines, nasolabial folds and neck lines. It can also improve the texture and tone of the skin and is used to improve stretch marks and loose skin.
