At Sarah M Laser and Skin Clinic, we recognize the importance of choosing the right treatment to achieve optimal skin health and boost your confidence.
That’s why we proudly offer exclusive, results-driven treatments utilizing the advanced CryoPen technology.
Developed meticulously over 13 years, the CryoPen stands as the most innovative and technologically advanced instrument in cryosurgery available today.
It provides a safe, precise, and effective solution for the permanent removal of various skin imperfections, including:
• Milia
• Freckles and dark, hyperpigmented lesions
• Age and liver spots
• Skin tags
Cryotherapy involves using extreme cold produced by liquid nitrous oxide to provide a fast, effective, and safe solution for the controlled destruction of unwanted skin imperfections.
The CryoPen is a FDA and CE registered advanced cryotherapy device.
It resembles a pen and delivers a fine pinpoint spray of liquid nitrous oxide at a consistent temperature of minus-127 degrees under high pressure.
This allows the therapist to work with millimeter precision, applying the nitrous oxide directly to the treated area while sparing the healthy surrounding tissue.
Typically, a single treatment suffices for pigmented areas using the CryoPen.
Age and sun spots result from excess melanin production caused by skin aging, sun exposure, or ultraviolet light sources like tanning beds.
These spots most frequently develop on sun-exposed areas such as the face, back of hands, chest, shoulders, and forearms.
Small, raised, pearly-white or yellowish bumps appearing on the skin, most often around the cheeks, nose, eyes, eyelids, forehead, and chest, but they can occur anywhere on the body.
Small flaps of tissue hanging off the skin by a connecting stalk. Skin tags are harmless.
Women, especially those experiencing weight gain or aging, are more prone to developing skin tags.
Irritation can occur if the tags rub against clothing or jewellery.
Skin tags typically measure a few milli-meters but can be larger.
Common locations include the neck, armpits, groin, under the breasts, eyelids, and under the folds of the buttocks. Removing skin tags with the CryoPen does not lead to the formation of additional tags.
Holding the applicator as close as possible to the skin imperfection,
The duration ranges from 1 to 30 seconds, depending on the size and depth of the lesion.
The CryoPen freezes tissue at a rate of approximately 1mm every 5 seconds.
Nitrous oxide causes rapid tissue destruction by freezing the intercellular fluid within seconds, leading to the formation of ice crystals and shards that rupture cell membranes.
This precise mechanism results in targeted destruction of abnormal tissue with minimal collateral damage to surrounding healthy tissue.
Its accuracy and practicality make it an effective tool for controlled tissue ablation or removal.
There will be a mild sensation similar to a stinging nettle on the skin when the nitrous oxide reaches the bottom of the area.
After cryotherapy, the treated area initially turns white as it freezes. When it thaws, you may see redness and a small swelling or weal. Within 2 to 24 hours, this weal might turn into a blister, which can take several days to resolve
Though blistering is rare. A crust will form over the lesion, and this crust usually falls off after about 10 to 14 days, revealing healed skin underneath.
The skin may look lighter or pink initially, but it typically returns to its normal color over a few weeks. Healing may take slightly longer for lesions on the legs, and larger or deeper lesions might cause additional crusting, extending healing time.
The area should be kept uncovered if possible, but a dressing can be applied if needed, and it’s important not to pick at the crust to avoid scarring.
The Cryopen treatments are performed by our experienced Practitioner who collectively have years of experience in the industry and minor cosmetic procedures.
